Day 1/10: I Wish It Was Raining Men Instead

My room is cold. The type of cold that requires me to wear a jacket to bed. Because I have to.

I guess that explains my first day on this 10 day trek down the South Island. It’s cold. It’s rainy. And not what I expected.

If anyone asked me what I saw in Kaikoura I don’t really have an answer for you. I know the beach can be seen out my window – if you squinted past the sheets of rain. I know there’s a small stretch of town. And I know it has the most diverse sea life in the country.

But I didn’t get to see it.

Instead I watched the 40 Year Old Virgin and Friends With Benefits.

Almost like home on a rainy day.

But I guess it wasn’t so bad.

I mean strangers have turned into not so strangers in less than 24 hours.

Denmark, Holland, Canada, USA, and Germany played cards together.

It’s a small world.

It’s a start.

My start.

(On a side note: I met a girl on the KiwiExperience who’s best friend is a girl in my journalism program. Six degrees of separation followed me down south. And if you know how that always happens to me…I can’t help it. I laughed.

It really is a small world after all.)
