Paris may be the city of love, but Auckland is the city of many lovers...
My roommate’s guide to New Zealand opens with that sentence. And as weird as it sounds, it’s true.
Now, I’m not just talking about the cute person you met at the Starbucks around the corner. I’m talking about the many things to do, places to see, and events to go to.
Auckland is a city of many lovers, because there’s so much to love.
This past week and a half, Auckland has been home to fashion lovers with 10 Days of Fashion in the City.
Day 9 of the 10 proved to be one of the more eventful ones with New Zealand’s Longest Catwalk: a runway of 125 metres stretching down a part of Queen St.
Coming from Toronto, I’ve had my share of runway walks thanks to World MasterCard Fashion Week – but not exactly like this. Unlike the one’s I’ve seen in Toronto, this runway let you up close and personal.
And when I mean up close, I mean standing right by the platform that it slightly burned my arm.
Now with fall just around the corner for this city down under, it’s no surprise that scarves, hats, and boots made their appearance.
What is a surprise is slightly how different and unique New Zealand’s fashion is from home.
They love their chunky sandals and platform shoes. They love their patterns (I once saw a romper with a watermelon pattern on it) and florals. They love flowy. And on occasion, they love pom-poms/ruffles at the ends of their shorts and skirts.
And of courses, here are a few outfits I loved as I watched it all:
